Dr. Michael Keane is author of Created in China the Great New Leap Forward. In 2009, he has published several articles on China including The Chinese Journal of Communication, International Journal of Cultural Policy, Continuum, The Creative Industries Journal. He is currently researching China's creative industries through two Australian Research Council research grants: the first, an ARC Discovery looks at human capital and investment in creative cluster; the second, a fellowship in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Creative Industries and Innovation, examines China's creative industries policy in relation to innovation and economic restructuring.
